I am loving all of the post BOOBS posts! You all seem to have had such an amazing time. The photos have all been wonderful too - You ladies look fantastic!
Locally here in Australia I have been to a couple of 'bandster' lunches in various locations and I imagine Chicago was a little something like that times about .. hmmm a MILLION!!! It makes me wish I had started this process so much sooner so that I could have saved my $$ and possibly been apart of all the fun :( oh well, I did read that BOOBS may be coming Down Under so you never know!!!
Well it is now officially less than 7 weeks until I have my surgery. Where I am located I don't need to go on any liquid shake diet prior to surgery (I'm not sure if that's good or bad) is this normal?
I will be having my pre-op check done in 5 weeks, OMG that seem so close now! I am hoping to do it over the phone to save me the 2 hour drive but if I have to travel thats ok too.
Other than that I haven't really got much to report.
Cheers
I didnt go on a pre op diet... i didnt need to... mind you i gained weight at the end cause i was naughty ahahah.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!
I wouldnt worry about not going on a pre-op diet. When I saw the dietitian she said I might not need to, but the surgeon seemed to just tell everyone the standard 2 weeks of Optifast.
ReplyDeleteAll surgeons seem different, especially with their rules after surgery.
I didn't have to go on a liquid diet prior to surgery, just a low fat/low carb for one week. Yes, every surgeon's rules are different, so try to follow yours. Thanks for your comment, too!
ReplyDeleteHi Kellie!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting banded! That is so exciting! I hope all goes well for you!
I didn't have to do any liquid diet before my surgery but I know a lot of people do. I didn't have any issues not having to do it.
I'm planning on going to BOOBS next year wherever it may be, hopefully you can come I'd love to meet you!
Looking forward to reading about your journey!
Talk to you soon!

I didn't have any sort of pre-op diet either. Most people have to do something, but I'm not complaining!
ReplyDelete5 weeks!
I went on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery... it shrinks up your organs
ReplyDelete(Liver, Stomach, etc) to help lower the risk of complications but lots of people didn't have to do it though. *Maria*-blogger from "This one time at BAND Camp..." Follow my journey at mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com
Just keep in mind, the reason most surgeons have for the pre-op liquid (high protein, low carb, low fat) diet is to shrink your liver, making your surgery safer. If your surgeon doesn't require it, lucky for you, but it's a good idea to do it anyhow. The healthier liver, along with some weight off make anesthesia way less risky too. I'm an OR nurse, so I know whereof I speak. Not trying to scare you... but just telling you the rationale.
ReplyDeleteI remember being where you are... SOOO exciting! I wish you all the best, Kellie! And I'm praying BOOBs 2015 is indeed in Oz, b/c I've ALWAYS wanted to go there!
Blessings,
